Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Calls for Accountability as CECC Confirms Ongoing Crimes Against Uyghurs in New Report
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dec 26, 2025
Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Campaign highlights new findings from the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC), which document the continued perpetration of crimes against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in Chinese occupied East Turkistan (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region), as detailed in the CECC’s 2025 Annual Report and Executive Summary.
The CECC reports that Chinese authorities continue policies previously identified by U.S. government bodies as crimes against humanity and genocide, with new evidence from the latest reporting period showing these practices are ongoing. These include expanded mass surveillance, arbitrary detention, coercive population-control measures, and tighter restrictions on religious practice. The report also highlights new and expanded forced labor practices, including the displacement of Uyghur farmers and the transfer of their land to state-controlled entities, raising fresh concerns about forced labor entering global supply chains. In addition, the CECC documents recent cases of transnational repression, such as the forced return of Uyghur asylum seekers from third countries and continued targeting of Uyghurs abroad, showing that China’s repression extends beyond its borders.
“These findings make clear that the atrocities facing Uyghurs are not a matter of the past,” said Arslan Hidayat, Save Uyghur Team Lead. “The CECC’s latest reporting documents current abuses and new cases of repression, underscoring the urgent need for accountability and meaningful international action.”
“This report makes clear that the atrocities against Uyghurs are not a closed chapter—they are ongoing,” said Imam Mujahid, President of Justice For All. “The international community must move beyond statements of concern and take concrete action to hold perpetrators accountable, protect vulnerable Uyghur communities, and ensure that no government or corporation is complicit in these crimes.”
Justice For Alls’ Save Uyghur calls on the U.S. government, international partners, and relevant institutions to act on the CECC’s findings by strengthening enforcement of forced labor prohibitions, expanding accountability measures against responsible officials, protecting Uyghur refugees and asylum seekers, and ensuring that no supply chains are linked to ongoing abuses.
