IMAMS: Letter on the Starvation of Gaza – 2025-07-31

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

Dear Respected Imams and Muslim Leaders,

We pray this message finds you in the best of health and iman.

We are writing with both urgency and hope.

Israel is once again faking a ceasefire and trickling of some aid and a bit of airdrop while killing more than a 100 Palestinians seeking aid. But here are some reasons for hope.

The Following Major Developments Give Us Hope:

  1. Two respected Israeli human rights organizations publicly stated that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and are calling for international intervention.
  2. The largest American Jewish denomination-the Reform movement-has called for full restoration of food access and UN aid although they failed to call for a ceasefire.
  3. President Trump acknowledged the severity of the crisis and his disagreement with Netanyahu.
  4. Canada, France, and UK declarations about recognition of a Palestinian state and the European Union excluding Israel from research projects, the Netherland declaring two Israeli ministers personae non grata which ensures that they cannot enter 31 European countries.

These developments come at a time when members of Congress are in their home districts. This week presents a critical moment for community engagement and advocacy.

We humbly ask you to take the following steps as leaders in our community:

Spiritual Leadership

  • Please continue to lead your community every day in sincere du’a for the children and families in Gaza. Ask Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, to bring relief to the oppressed and to guide the hearts of decision-makers.
  • Encourage fasting this week as a means of spiritual strength and solidarity. Recommend to your congregation that they fast one day with the intention of seeking Allah’s help in breaking the siege on Gaza.
  • Please continue to speak about Palestine in your Friday sermons, community gatherings, and interfaith conversations. Silence at this moment would be a disservice to our faith and our responsibility.

Advocacy and Action

  • Engage your interfaith partners, clergy councils, and local civic leaders. Ask them to also call on their elected officials to demand an end to starvation, a ceasefire, and full restoration of aid.

At Justice For All and Sound Vision, we have suspended our regular work today to focus solely on mobilizing action. Our teams are contacting UN missions, Congressional offices, and faith leaders across the country.

Action on Friday:

  • Friday Khutba on efforts with sabr and tawakkul
  • Salatul Janaza Ghaib for those buried under the rubble
  • Announcement to make calls to elected leaders with dua
  • Request to fast on Monday in solidarity with Gaza

Tools Available:

We ask you to take action. The timing is right, and your voice carries tremendous moral authority. May Allah accept our efforts and ease the suffering of our brothers and sisters.

With respect and du’a,
Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid
