Justice For All Endorses Nuclear Abolition Day, Calls for Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Sept 25, 2026) Justice For All, an international human rights organization accredited to the United Nations, today reaffirmed its endorsement of Nuclear Abolition Day. It joins a global coalition of over 2000 diverse organizations and eminent individuals from 105 countries, including Nobel Peace Prize laureates, parliamentarians, religious leaders and former U.N. officials, in demanding the complete and unconditional abolition of all nuclear weapons.

Nuclear Abolition Day, observed annually on September 26, was established in 2013 by a U.N. General Assembly resolution to promote the goal of a world free of nuclear weapons through renewed international effort and public education on the existential threat these weapons pose to humanity.

The endorsement comes amid escalating nuclear risks across multiple conflict zones. In the Middle East, Israeli Heritage Minister, Amichai Eliyahu, publicly stated that dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza was “one of the options” under consideration, remarks condemned by Jordan as “a call for genocide” and which underscore the normalization of nuclear rhetoric at the highest levels of government. Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal, estimated at approximately 90 warheads, remains outside any international safeguards. In Ukraine, Kremlin sources indicate that Russian officials increasingly believe Vladimir Putin could resort to tactical nuclear weapons as the war escalates. In South Asia, the U.S. Intelligence Community’s Annual Threat Assessment explicitly states that India-Pakistan relations “remain a risk for nuclear conflict.” It cites ongoing tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, where India’s denial of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and its ongoing military occupation continue to fuel instability between two nuclear-armed states.

“The pursuit of nuclear weapons is not a path to security; it is a rebellion against the divine trust of stewardship on Earth,” stated Imam Saffet Catovic, Director of U.N. Operations for Justice For All. “From Islamic teachings to other global faith traditions, a unified voice holds that these instruments of genocide and ecocide are an abomination. The international community has a moral and legal duty to ensure they are never used again and are ultimately eliminated.”

“Every nuclear weapon is a declaration that large numbers of lives of some peoples are expendable,” added Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President of Justice For All. “We reject this logic absolutely. The pursuit of nuclear arsenals has drained resources from human development and perpetuated systems of domination. Total abolition is the only path consistent with justice.”

Justice For All calls upon all nuclear-armed states, the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel to adopt No-First-Use policies, negotiate a comprehensive Nuclear Weapons Convention and join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
