Salaam,
154 countries are party to the Genocide Convention. Adopted by the United Nations in 1948, the convention requires governments not only to punish genocide after it happens, but to prevent it before more lives are destroyed. “Never again” is not a slogan. It is a legal obligation. |

The demonstrations brought together members of Tibetan, Uyghur, Hong Kong, Southern Mongolian and Chinese democracy activists.
The protests were organised as part of a day-long mobilisation that included a demonstration outside the Chinese Embassy, a march towards the US Capitol and a rally involving representatives of several diaspora and human rights organisations.

India removes over 4,200 books from Kashmir institutions in sweeping knowledge purge
Indian authorities have withdrawn 4,249 books from educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir, with the overwhelming majority removed from the Kashmir Valley.
Government figures presented in the regional assembly show authorities examined more than 2.18 million titles through a three-tier scrutiny process. Nearly 94% of the books removed were held by institutions in Kashmir, while 6% came from Jammu.
Authorities labeled the material “objectionable,” including publications considered supportive of Kashmiri freedom or human rights.
The removals represent another restriction on access to knowledge in Indian-administered Kashmir, where control over education, history and political expression has accompanied decades of Indian occupation.
The government has not disclosed the titles or authors targeted, leaving unclear what histories, arguments and Kashmiri perspectives have disappeared from institutional shelves.
The measure follows earlier bans on Kashmir-related literature, deepening concerns that censorship is reshaping what Kashmiris can read, study and preserve.

166 Civil Society Groups Urge Halt to Malaysia’s Rohingya Deportation Plan
More than 160 civil society organizations yesterday urged Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to halt plans to deport Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, saying that they could face severe risks including ongoing violence and forced conscription into the military. Last week, Anwar said that he planned to invite military-appointed leader Min Aung Hlaing to Malaysia, in a bid to expedite the repatriation of tens of thousands of Rohingya Muslims who have sought sanctuary in Malaysia over the past decade.
Anwar’s government has already reached a deal with Naypyidaw for the “voluntary” repatriation of some 5,000 refugees, which make up around half of the 10,388 Myanmar nationals currently being held at the country’s immigration detention depots. The first 1,476 of this group is scheduled to return to Myanmar on September 29 aboard two Myanmar Navy warships and a hospital ship. In their statement, the civil society groups, which included both Malaysian, Myanmar, and international organizations, expressed “grave concern” about the planned deportations, contrasting Malaysia’s treatment of the Rohingya with its vocal advocacy of the Palestinian cause. They also lambasted Anwar’s willingness to roll out the red carpet for Min Aung Hlaing.

Operations for Justice For All. “From Islamic teachings to other global faith traditions, a unified voice holds that these instruments of genocide and ecocide are an abomination. The international community has a moral and legal duty to ensure they are never used again and are ultimately eliminated.”
