2026-07-14: Will Hindutva Destroy the Taj Mahal?

In this newsletter:

Taj Mahal In Danger

The Indian courts do not have a good record of protecting Masjids and the historic Muslim sites. Now, the High Court (Allahabad) has begun the type of proceedings regarding the Taj Mahal, which had resulted in the demolition of the historic Babri Masjid. It has asked the government and the Archaeological Survey of India to look into the claim that the Taj Mahal was built over an ancient Hindu temple. In the Babri Masjid case, the Supreme Court had agreed that there was no evidence that there was a temple on that site but since the petitioners believed that, it granted the masjid to a Hindu leader who replaced it with a Hindu temple. The challenge to the Taj Mahal was earlier dismissed by the Agra courts. Strangely, this new case has been filed on behalf of a deity by that deity’s worshippers.

Taj Mahal an Icon of Love is Under Attack

Sutluj: A movie dangerous to the regime.

Sutluj is a movie regarding the many disappearances that happened in Punjab at the time of the insurgency. The story revolves around a human rights worker Jaswant Singh Khalra, who takes on a courageous fight to uncover the conspiracy behind thousands of disappearances and extrajudicial killings. After 3 days the movie was banned in India. One should ask why the Indian authorities have chosen to hide the well known fact of Punjab disappearances. Instead of reconciliation and learning from past mistakes, India chooses to keep what was a reality from its population.

We welcome the Passage of Senate Resolution 444

Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Campaign welcomes the United States Senate’s passage of S.Res. 444, a resolution condemning Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping for “engaging in a pattern of deceit, undermining prospects for peace and security, and orchestrating crimes against humanity.”

The Senate resolution states that under Xi Jinping’s rule, the Chinese Communist Party has orchestrated a “horrific, modern-day genocide” against the Uyghur people and other Muslim communities and calls for the application of all available sanctions authorities against Chinese Communist Party officials responsible for human rights abuses. Kashmir Martyrs’ Day

Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is observed annually on July 13 to commemorate the 22 Kashmiri Muslims killed by the forces of the Dogra monarchy on July 13, 1931. The historical event took place outside the Srinagar Central Jail during public protests surrounding the sedition trial of Abdul Qadeer, who had spoken out against the autocratic rule of Maharaja Hari Singh. According to historical narratives, as the time for Zuhr (afternoon) prayers arrived, protestors stepped forward one by one to deliver the Adhan (call to prayer) and were successively shot dead by state forces. Landslides Deadly for Rohingya Refugees

The deadly risks facing Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh were evident from landslides in July 2026 that killed at least 17 people and displaced more than 3,000.

Bangladesh has been hosting over a million Rohingya refugees for nearly a decade, with expanding families crammed into bamboo and tarp shelters on steep, deforested hillsides that are highly vulnerable during the monsoon season. As more refugees arrive from Burma, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) has repeatedly warned of deaths and injuries in the congested camps due to lethal cyclones, floods, and landslides

Imam Saffet Catovic at the United Nations International Day of Reflection and Comemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica

As the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide is commemorated, Justice For All warns that the patterns of denial and historical revisionism that enabled the Bosnian genocide are escalating, threatening the fragile peace in the region.

While the U.N General Assembly commemorates the victims, the 31st Srebrenica Peace March concluded with nearly 6,500 participants arriving at the Potocari Memorial Center, symbolizing resilience against hatred. However, in a disturbing echo of past crimes, 10 newly identified victims from a tertiary mass grave were transported to the memorial for burial, a stark reminder of the genocide’s ongoing legacy. This solemn moment was juxtaposed with reports that Bosnian charity Pomoziba.org providing aid to marchers along the 104km route received terrorist threats.

Justice For All condemns the continued efforts by Republika Srpska officials to rewrite history, including recent attempts to portray perpetrators as victims through revisionist campaigns. The arrival of additional victims’ remains and the intimidation of those honoring the dead underscore the urgency of upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement and countering secessionist rhetoric. Justice For All calls for immediate international action against genocide denial, historic revisionism and to safeguard the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
