India Moves to Silence Justice For All

India has become one of the world’s most aggressive democratic censors, using website blocks, social media restrictions and internet shutdowns to silence human rights advocacy. Now, Justice For All is the latest target.

India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has sent Justice For All a notice asking why our website should remain accessible in India. If Justice For All does not respond, the website could face an automatic ban.

We responded with full conviction in our human rights work on Kashmir, prisoners of conscience and hijab rights — the three areas cited in the notice.

Justice For All made clear that India’s people, civil society and intellectual traditions should not be treated as so fragile that they must be shielded from standard human rights reporting and advocacy. Already, Justice For All’s India-focused Facebook and X accounts are blocked in the country.

We remain committed to speaking the truth, defending human rights and standing with targeted communities, regardless of attempts to censor our work.

Justice For All Condemns Threats Against Judge Tabassum Khan

Justice For All is gravely concerned by the targeting of Judge Tabassum Khan in India after she sentenced men convicted in a deadly cow-vigilante attack.

Judge Khan’s ruling held the perpetrators accountable for a lynching that left one man dead. In response, threatening videos and communal attacks have surfaced online, accusing her of acting against the convicted men because she is Muslim.

This is not only an attack on one judge. It is an attack on judicial independence and another warning sign of how Hindutva supremacy is eroding India’s justice system. When a Muslim judge is threatened for applying the law, every targeted community becomes less safe.

Justice For All urges Indian authorities to investigate the threats, prosecute those responsible and protect judges from intimidation by Hindutva-aligned vigilantes and their supporters. Read full statement

An Israeli strike on a funeral in Gaza kills 7 people and wounds 22

An Israeli strike on a funeral in the central Gaza Strip killed at least seven people and wounded 22, while other attacks in the embattled coastal territory left five more dead. The Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza confirmed the number of casualties in the strike in central Gaza, saying people were struck at the funeral for a Palestinian killed in a strike earlier on Friday. In that attack, which killed two people. Israeli fire also killed three more people on Friday, including two women, in northern Gaza, Gaza City and Khan Younis.

Save Uyghur Condemns CCP Propaganda Tour Exploiting American Children in Occupied East Turkistan

Justice For All’s Save Uyghur campaign condemns the Chinese Communist Party’s use of American children in a staged propaganda tour of occupied East Turkistan.

The 40-member One Voice Children’s Choir arrived July 12 for a nine-day tour of Urumchi, Korla and other parts of East Turkistan. The CCP has framed the visit as a “China-U.S. Youth Exchange Initiative” to “foster friendship.” But the itinerary,  including visits to a 5G smart factory and a so-called smart cotton farm, appears designed to sanitize the reality of occupation, forced labor and mass repression.

These are not neutral cultural stops. Technology and cotton production are central to the CCP’s campaign of surveillance, coercion and forced labor against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims. The United Nations has warned that the arbitrary and discriminatory detention of Uyghurs and other Muslim communities may constitute international crimes, including crimes against humanity.

No American child should be used to whitewash atrocity crimes. Save Uyghur urges the tour organizers, parents and public officials to recognize how this visit is being weaponized and to refuse participation in CCP propaganda. Read the full press release.

Kashmir Martyrs’ Day

Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is observed annually on July 13 to commemorate the 22 Kashmiri Muslims killed by the forces of the Dogra monarchy on July 13, 1931. The historical event took place outside the Srinagar Central Jail during public protests surrounding the sedition trial of Abdul Qadeer, who had spoken out against the autocratic rule of Maharaja Hari Singh. According to historical narratives, as the time for Zuhr (afternoon) prayers arrived, protestors stepped forward one by one to deliver the Adhan (call to prayer) and were successively shot dead by state forces. American Muslim Vocational School Begins Classes in Rohingya Camps

Alhamdulillah classes have officially begun at the American Muslim Vocational School in Camp 1 East, marking an important step toward empowering Rohingya youth with practical skills and new opportunities for the future.

This one-year vocational program is designed to prepare students for high-paying remote work opportunities with international companies by equipping them with in-demand digital and professional skills.

Highlights of the program include:

• A state-of-the-art campus featuring a modern two-story facility with reliable electricity and high-speed internet.
• Expert-led ICT training provided by professional instructors hired by an American company.
• A well-rounded curriculum covering technology, Burmese and English, Mathematics, Rohingya Studies, and Deeniyat.

Faith Leaders Rally at Delaney Hall, Launch EVICT GEO Campaign

NEWARK—Over 200 faith leaders from across the country gathered Monday at historic First Presbyterian Church in Newark, a station on the Underground Railroad, for a day of prayer, training, and action outside Delaney Hall detention center. Imam Saffet Catovic, Director of UN Operations for Justice For All, led opening prayers and reflection for the gathering. Participants later processed to the detention facility, tying ribbons bearing names of detained immigrants and those who died in ICE custody to the fence in prayerful witness. The event launched the EVICT GEO campaign, demanding an end to GEO Group’s operation of halfway houses, re-entry programs, and the East Coast’s largest detention center. Faith leaders from multiple traditions joined in nonviolence training and public action.
