On the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide, Justice For All Warns: “The World Is Failing Gaza As It Failed Bosnia”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 11, 2025
Washington, DC – On the solemn 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, Europe’s worst atrocity since the Holocaust, Justice For All is issuing a stark warning: the patterns of dehumanization, inaction, and denial that led to the mass murder of more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys are repeating today in Gaza.
Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President of Justice For All, stated:
“Srebrenica teaches us that genocide never occurs in isolation. It is always preceded by dehumanization, enabled by silence, and followed by denial. We are witnessing this same deadly sequence unfold in Gaza-again.”
Justice For All, which emerged from the historic Bosnia Task Force, was at the forefront of mobilizing global action during the Bosnian genocide. Today, the organization calls on the international community to uphold its moral and legal obligations to protect civilians in Gaza and end complicity in war crimes.
Imam Saffet Catovic, Director of UN Operations at Justice For All and a former Bosnian diplomat, added:
“The graves in Potočari mark where the world failed Bosnia. Gaza’s shattered hospitals, bombed shelters, and uncovered mass graves show where we are failing again. ‘Never Again’ must not become a hollow slogan.”
The numbers are harrowing:
- Over 7,000 Srebrenica victims identified and buried-with 1,000 still missing
- An estimated 377,000 Palestinians unaccounted for in Gaza, according to the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative
- Over 57,000 Palestinians killed, including more than 17,000 children
Meanwhile, genocide denial and historical revisionism continue to threaten the truth. In 2024 alone, the Srebrenica Memorial Centre documented 305 instances of genocide denial, largely driven by Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik. Today, Gaza’s suffering is similarly denied and obscured, even as mass graves are unearthed and civilian infrastructure is systematically destroyed.
Justice For All Demands:
- An immediate ceasefire and full humanitarian access to Gaza
- Prosecution of genocide perpetrators through the International Criminal Court
- Sanctions and boycotts in line with the ICJ’s rulings against Israel’s actions
- An end to U.S. military aid fueling atrocities
- Consistent recognition of the genocides in both Bosnia and Palestine, and a robust public pushback against genocide denial, including media accountability.
Justice For All Urges Global Citizens to:
- Visit and support the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center and exhibitions such as “The Lives Behind the Fields of Death” at the UN in New York
- Participate in local commemoration events for Srebrenica and raise awareness about ongoing atrocities in Gaza
- Pressure governments to halt support for genocidal regimes
- Stand united against all forms of genocide denial and historical whitewashing
“The graves of Srebrenica and the rubble of Gaza cry out with the same plea,” said Imam Mujahid. “Never Again means Never Again, for anyone, anywhere.”
