Salaam,

Malaysia has already returned 1,476 people to Burma and plans call for thousands more to be sent back. Malaysia’s own Human Rights Commission has urged the government to halt further returns, warning that people could face persecution, torture or other serious harm in Burma.

We need your voice now.

📧 Please take one minute to email the Malaysian ambassador and urge Malaysia to stop deporting Rohingya and uphold the principle of non-refoulement — no one should be sent back to a place where their life or freedom is at risk.

Justice for All Stands with Asma Elhuni

Imam Saffet Catovic, Director of UN Operations for Justice for All, joined community members and immigrant rights advocates outside Trenton Municipal Court on September 29 to speak in defense of human rights defender Asma Elhuni ahead of her court appearance.

Elhuni, an organizer with Resistencia en Acción NJ, was arrested by Trenton Police after ICE agents called police to report her. She was observing and documenting ICE activity, warning neighbors, and informing residents of their rights—actions consistent with New Jersey’s Immigrant Trust Directive and state law.

Speaking at the press conference, Imam Catovic said: “Asma was not obstructing justice. She was pursuing it. When masked federal agents enter our neighborhoods and detain our neighbors without judicial warrants, it is not obstruction to bear witness. It is worship and service-a duty to God.” Imam Catovic called for Elhuni’s immediate release and urged accountability for the Trenton Police Department, noting that New Jersey has clearly stated local police shall not serve as ICE’s deputies.

Justice for All remains committed to defending the right of all people to observe, document, and peacefully respond to government actions in their communities.

A New Approach to Interfaith Dialogue: Truth-Telling, Confession, Repentance & Shared Principles.

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Faith Beyond Religious Nationalism launched the first in a series of conversations at The Riverside Church in New York City. The dialogue was titled, “A New Approach to Interfaith Dialogue: Truth-Telling, Confession, Repentance & Shared Principles.”

Its purpose was to help religious communities examine how their traditions can be used to justify exclusion and political domination and ways practicing faith communities can learn from each to resist the weaponization of religion.

The first gathering focused on Hinduism and Hindutva, distinguishing the religious tradition from Hindu nationalism and Zionism as distinguished from Judaism. Imam Shamsi Ali , of the Al-Hikmah Mosque and the Director of Jamaica Muslim Center in Jamaica, Queens, New York City.and Rev. Adriene Thorne, senior pastor of The historic Riverside Church opened with reflections on deeper interfaith understanding. Imam Saffet Catovic represented Justice for All.

Rev. Neal Christie and Rev. Peter Cook explained how religious identity becomes fused with privilege, political power and myths of national belonging. Sunita Viswanath from Hindus for Human Rights explored Hindu faith, diversity, and its resources for liberation. Rev. Dr. John Thatamanil from Union Theological Seminary examined Hindu nationalism’s distortion of Hinduism. Peter Beinart, a noted journalist, broadened the discussion of faith and nationalism and Zionism.

Additional dialogues are planned Faith Beyond Religious Nationalism welcomes masjids to host these events.

Indian Muslim students beaten, called ‘jihadis’ on Kolkata Street

Three Muslim university students in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata say they were assaulted and subjected to anti-Muslim abuse on a public street, including being branded “militants” and “jihadis,” in an alleged attack that has raised concerns among students over their safety outside campus. Ashik Billa, Hasanur Zaman and Muazzim Hossain, all fifth-year theology students at Aliah University, said two men confronted them as they walked toward Sealdah railway station after classes at the university’s Taltala campus.

The Sept. 24 incident occurred near GD Hospital in central Kolkata, according to The Observer Post, which reported the students’ accounts. The students said the men began directing communal abuse at them and repeatedly called them “militants” and “jihadis,” terms frequently used as anti-Muslim slurs portraying Muslims as violent or inherently linked to terrorism. When the students objected, they said, the verbal abuse escalated into physical violence. “We were slapped and beaten. Our clothes were torn. Hasanur was hit on the cheek and started bleeding,” Hossain said.

Special Intensive Revision of India’s voters:

A sitting judge of India’s Supreme Court has come down heavily on the Special Intensive Revision of Indian voters that is currently underway in several Indian states. It has resulted in the disenfranchisement of many. In West Bengal, the reported numbers struck off the lists is around 9 million. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan has called the process unjustified and confirms that it is unconstitutional to have 2 citizen classes in India.

OUR WORK:

We are tracking this development. The Sabar Institute has done excellent work in different states. We are in process of a report encompassing the many results and will keep you informed of progress.

Gaza authorities report 5,147 Israeli ceasefire violations

Israel has committed 5,147 violations of the ceasefire in place since Oct. 10, 2025, killing 1,421 Palestinians. There is an imminent humanitarian catastrophe as winter nears and aid deliveries fall far short of agreed levels. Israeli forces have breached the Gaza ceasefire agreement 5,147 times since it took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, leaving 1,421 Palestinians dead, humanitarian conditions are deteriorating toward a catastrophe as winter sets in. Humanitarian conditions across the Gaza Strip have grown dangerous and disastrous, putting hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians at risk of deadly outcomes.

Israel has permitted only 35% of the agreed number of trucks carrying humanitarian and relief aid and reconstruction materials to enter the enclave. Only 72,826 trucks were allowed to enter out of 210,600 humanitarian and relief trucks and trucks carrying reconstruction materials that were supposed to enter under the agreement. Only 13,785 people had been able to leave or enter the enclave out of 35,000 expected to travel, a compliance rate of no more than 39%.

It’s Been 77 Years of CCP Illegal Occupation of East Turkistan

On October 1, 2026, marking 77 years since Mao Zedong proclaimed the establishment of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Beijing, Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Campaign commemorates the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) illegal military occupation and colonization of East Turkistan that occurred later that month.

“For 77 years, the Chinese Communist Party has attempted to erase the sovereignty, culture and identity of East Turkistan through military occupation, state-directed colonization and mass atrocity,” stated Arslan Hidayat, Save Uyghur Team Lead at Justice For All. “Today, as Beijing celebrates its national day, millions of Uyghurs, Kazakhs and Kyrgyz remain interned in concentration camps, subjected to forced sterilizations, forced labor and systematic destruction. Silence and diplomatic hesitation only embolden Beijing’s ambition to turn East Turkistan into an eternal colony. The international community must move beyond symbolic gestures, recognize East Turkistan as an occupied nation and pursue legal accountability against CCP officials at the International Criminal Court.”

Nearly 1,500 migrants arrive in Burma from Malaysia despite UN warnings

Nearly 1,500 Rohingya refugees and migrants deported from Malaysia have arrived in their war-ravaged country under an opaque repatriation scheme heavily criticised by human rights groups and the United Nations refugee agency. The 1,479 returnees, transported from Malaysia on board two navy warships and a hospital ship on Tuesday, arrived in southern Yangon early Sunday. They are among 5,000 Burmese nationals who will be repatriated in stages from Malaysia, where more than 10,300 others are being held in immigration detention centres, according to the country’s Home Ministry.

Malaysia insists all returnees agreed to voluntary repatriation, but rights monitors have raised concerns that Rohingya refugees had little choice and warned that conditions for return remain unsafe. The UN refugee agency said this past week that its staff were not allowed to meet with them to confirm whether their decisions to return “were genuinely free and informed”. Rohingya make up the majority of Burmese refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia, but it remains unclear how many members of the persecuted Rohingya are among the returned group. The deportation was carried out during escalating raids on refugee communities in Malaysia by immigration officials, which led to the detention of more than 50,000 refugees in 2026.

Justice Is Not A Choice. It’s A Duty – Sterling, VA

We are honored to invite you to the Justice For All Benefit on Sunday, October 11, at 7:00 PM at the Cherry Blossom Hall in Sterling.

Our keynote speaker for this Benefit Dinner is Lt. Colonel Anthony Aguilar (Rt.). A former Green Beret who served in the military for about 25 years, Lt. Col. Aguilar has been instrumental in exposing the war crimes being committed in Gaza. Having taken a job providing security for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation last year, his eyewitness experience serves as testimony to the depravity being committed, turning these aid distribution sites into what he has termed “death traps.”

This evening promises to be powerful, inspiring, and deeply meaningful. But it won’t be complete without you. When our community shows up together, we send a message that justice cannot be ignored.

We look forward to seeing you there. Let’s fill the room with voices that believe in Qist –  truth, dignity, and justice for all.
