Justice For All Calls on UN Member States to Act on Commission Findings of Genocide Against Palestinian Children

Justice For All, a non-profit human rights and genocide prevention organization, today urged all Permanent Missions to the United Nations to act on the findings of an independent U.N. Commission, which concluded that Israeli forces intentionally killed Palestinian children and subjected them to torture and sexual violence, among other international law violations, including a continuing genocide.

The Commission found that Israeli soldiers “intentionally killed Palestinian children” in Gaza with airstrikes, including “large-yield bombs calibrated for maximum casualties” (paras 267–268). The targeting of children, the report states, was intended to “physically destroy the larger Palestinian group in Gaza” (para 345) and constitutes a “key element in the Israeli authorities’ genocidal intent” (para 346). The report documents children in Israeli detention subjected to “extremely humiliating and abusive treatment,” including sexual violence and reports of child rape (paras 107, 132, 134).

“This report is likely the most authoritative documentation of Israel’s genocide we will have until the ICJ’s final decision years from now,” said Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President of Justice For All. “Palestinian children continue to be killed despite the existence of ceasefires. Member States cannot claim ignorance. The duty to prevent genocide arose the instant they learned of a serious risk, at the latest, when the ICJ issued provisional measures on January 26, 2024.”

September 18 marks the second anniversary of the General Assembly’s historic 2024 resolution demanding that Israel end its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

“We believe this anniversary offers a powerful moment to ask: Where is the justice? Where is the accountability? What must the international community now do?” said Imam Saffet Catovic, Director of U.N. Operations for Justice For All. “We must ask these questions for the sake of the Gaza children who have been killed, and for those who remain alive under horrific humanitarian conditions, subjected to periodic Israeli strikes and killings. The world must honor these victims by ensuring peace, justice and accountability, no exceptions.”

Justice For All specifically requests that missions and their Heads of State address these findings during their UNGA 81 open debate high-level meetings and implement the recommendations in section IX.B of the Commission’s report.
